If you and your significant other are the type who find wedding boring and stuffy you may want to consider having a themed wedding. They can be very casual and light-hearted and you will certainly be giving your guests something to remember.

Think about what you and your betrothed have in common. Are you absolutely fanatical about something? Perhaps you can work your interests into your wedding theme.

Here are a few ideas to help get your mind thinking:

• The Roaring Twenties wedding - Swing music and 1920's style dress will make this one a blast.
• The 1960's wedding - With all the Peace signs, flowers, and psychedelic colors about, your guests may have such a great time they won't even remember it.
• The Sports wedding - For all you sports-lovers out there. The groomsmen can dress in their favorite teams uniform and the bridesmaids can dress as cheerleaders. Make the wedding favors part of the theme too using hockey pucks or baseballs.
• The Fairyland wedding - You can add fairy wings to your dress and your guests can dress as all sorts of mythical creatures.
• The Hawaiian wedding - Grass skirts, hawaiian shirts and fresh leis. Place a few surf boards nearby for decoration and serve tropical drinks in coconuts.
• The Disney wedding - There are so many memorable Disney characters that you use to build a perfect wedding. Winnie the Pooh, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, the Lion King, Cinderella. The options are unlimited.
• The Pirate wedding - Decorate your reception hall to look like an old saloon or the deck of a ship. Peg legs, hooks for hands and eye patches make nice touches to your pirate costumes. Use a treasure chest to store your wedding gifts. Arrrghh matey!
• The Star Wars wedding - Why not dress up in costume and have Princess Leia marry Han Solo? The best man may be a little warm in a Chewbacca costume, but you can bet there will be silence when Darth Vader asks if anyone has objections to the marriage.
• The Star Trek wedding - Or if you are a Star Trek fan, you can get married on the bridge of the Enterprise. Mr Spock can be the best man and the groomsmen can be Scotty, Chekhov and Sulu. Your reception will look like an interplanetary meeting of Klingons, Romulans, Andorians, and Vulcans.
• The Lord of the Rings wedding - You can get married as Aragorn and Arwen, with the ceremony performed by the wizard Gandalf. Children will make perfect little hobbits.
